Injectables are one of the most popular treatments within the cosmetic industry today. Women and men alike love the fact that injectable fillers and wrinkle relaxers are completely non-surgical. Injectables are very versatile and can be used to smooth wrinkles and augment certain areas of the face. Juvederm has a wide array of products designed to rejuvenate, enhance and augment the face. This line of injectables is great for:
- Adding volume and lift to cheeks (results last up to 2 years)
- Smoothing wrinkles and facial folds (results last 1 year-18 months depending on the injectable)
- Soften vertical lines above the upper lip (results last up to 1 year)
- Plump and enhance thin or aging lips (results last up to 1 year)
Depending on your goals, one of the following Juvederm products may be right for you:
- Voluma XC
- Vollure XC
- Ultra Plus XC
- Ultra XC
- Volbella XC
Juvederm products restore and enhance the cheeks and lips while softening wrinkles. Juvederm works by adding volume via the moisture-loving ingredient hyaluronic acid (HA). The HA in Juvederm mimics the HA that occurs naturally in the skin, tissue, joints and other areas of your body. This type of acid binds with water molecules, providing hydration and plump skin.
Restylane dermal fillers are ideal for:
- Adding cheek volume
- Adding volume to aging hands
- Softening smile lines/marionette lines (the parentheses-like lines encircling the corners of your mouth)
- Soften the lines extending from your nose to the corners of your mouth (nasolabial folds)
- Softening vertical lines above the upper lip
- Augmenting thin lips
Like Juvederm, Restylane products work because of hyaluronic acid. Injectables available within the Restylane family include:
- Restylane Lyft
- Restylane Refyne
- Restylane Defyne
- Restylane Kysse
Similar to Juvederm, Restylane injections last between 6-18 months depending on the specific filler and the treatment area.
Dr. Tag also offers Sculptra, an injectable composed of poly-L-lactic acid. Sculptra replaces lost collagen, and is most often used on smile lines, marionette lines, nasolabial folds and chin lines. One of the really great things about Sculptra is that the results can last up to two years!
Millions of people are treated with BOTOX® Cosmetic each year. This leading wrinkle relaxer treats:
- Vertical “11s” between the eyebrows (also called frown lines and glabellar lines)
- Horizontal brow creases
- Crow’s feet wrinkles at the corners of the eyes
- Bunny lines on the sides of the nose
- Dimple in the middle of the chin
Unlike Juvederm and Restylane, BOTOX® is not a dermal filler. This botulinum toxin type A injection works by freezing the activity that causes facial wrinkles, not by filling in the wrinkles like a dermal filler does. This injectable lasts 3-4 months, at which point new injections are needed to maintain the effect. Dysport® works like BOTOX® Cosmetic but is another brand option.
Kybella is an injectable treatment that melts excess fat under the chin also known as submental fullness.
Here’s how it works: Kybella is made of deoxycholic acid, which also occurs in the body and breaks down as dietary fat. Kybella is injected directly into the site and destroys the fat cells permanently.
Because the fat cells are destroyed permanently, you don’t need any further injections once you reach the desired results. Most people benefit from more than 1 injection session. The sessions are spaced 1 month apart. Anywhere between 1-6 sessions may be recommended depending on the amount of excess chin fat.
Kybella is a completely non-surgical way to eliminate a double chin. The injections themselves take only about 15 minutes to complete. You’ll be able to return to your normal activities immediately, although bruising, swelling and numbness for a few days is normal.
How long do injectables last?
Non-filler injectables including BOTOX® and Dysport® last 3-4 months.
How long do facial fillers last?
The longevity depends on the specific injectable and treatment area. Most injectables fall within a 6-18 month timeline.
What age should you get fillers?
From young adulthood (age 18) and up, dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxers are an option. There is really no wrong or right age for adults to get these non-surgical enhancements.
What happens to your face when you stop using fillers?
Results fade when you stop using fillers or other injectables. Contrary to myths and misunderstandings, your face won’t suddenly begin aging faster when you stop using these treatments.
